The Path to Kṛṣṇa-bhakti
The 7 pillars guide the devotee toward a life of sincere practice, spiritual discipline, family devotion, guru-sevā, Vaiṣṇava-sevā, and loving remembrance of Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa.

Paramparā
Receiving Divine Knowledge Through Disciplic Succession
In the Vedic tradition, spiritual knowledge descends through paramparā, the disciplic succession of realized gurus. This sacred current begins from the Supreme Lord and is carried by pure devotees who preserve and share divine truth without distortion.
Gokul Bhavan Gauḍīya Maṭha follows the Śrī Brahma-Madhva-Gauḍīya Sampradāya, the line of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and the Six Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana.
Practice focus: Honor the guru-paramparā and receive spiritual understanding through authorized Vaiṣṇava teachings.
Śrī Guru
The Gateway to Divine Service
Without the mercy of śrī guru, it is not possible to properly understand Bhagavān or enter deeply into devotional life. Even when Śrī Kṛṣṇa appears in this world, He accepts a guru and worships the guru — to set an example for us to follow.
When a sincere seeker deeply desires to surrender to Bhagavān and perform devotion, Śrī Kṛṣṇa mercifully sends a spiritual master who connects that soul to Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
Prathamaṁ tu guruṁ pūjyaṁ Tataś caiva mamārcanam Kurvan siddhim avāpnoti Hy anyathā niṣphalaṁ bhavet
Lord Kṛṣṇa says, "One should worship his guru first and then only worship Me. By following this process, one attains perfection; otherwise, one's worship becomes fruitless."
Practice focus: Seek shelter, instruction, and service under śrī guru with sincerity and humility.
Śrī Gaurāṅga
The Golden Avatāra of Divine Mercy
Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, also known as Śrī Gaurāṅga because of His golden complexion, is Śrī Kṛṣṇa appearing in the mood and complexion of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī.
He inaugurated the Hari nāma-saṅkīrtana movement, the yuga-dharma for this age of Kali. He freely distributed the path for prema-bhakti.
Practice focus: Take shelter of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's mercy through nāma-saṅkīrtana, hari-kathā, humility, and service to Vaiṣṇavas.
Bhakti
Hearing, Chanting, and Remembering the Lord
The Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam describes nine processes of bhakti, beginning with śravaṇam, hearing. Through hearing hari-kathā about Śrī Kṛṣṇa's names, forms, qualities, pastimes, devotees, and associates, devotion awakens.
Śravaṇaṁ kīrtanaṁ viṣṇoḥ Smaraṇaṁ pāda-sevanam Arcanaṁ vandanaṁ dāsyaṁ Sakhyam ātma-nivedanam
The nine processes of bhakti are hearing, chanting, remembering, serving the Lord's lotus feet, worshiping, offering prayers, becoming a servant, developing friendship, and fully offering oneself to the Lord.
Practice focus: Regularly hear hari-kathā, chant the holy names, and remember Śrī Kṛṣṇa with devotion.
Kṛṣṇa-Nāma
The Supreme Practice for This Age
Nothing is comparable to the holy name of Śrī Kṛṣṇa. Nāma-japa and nāma-saṅkīrtana purify the heart, awaken remembrance, and gradually lead the devotee toward loving service.
| Level | Rounds | Practice Note |
|---|---|---|
| Guru Āśraya | 1 | Beginner level |
| Nitāi Āśraya | 4 | Advancing in practice |
| Gaura Āśraya | 8 | Enthusiastic and receiving mercy |
| Hari-Nāma | 16 | Steady chanting and preparation for deeper commitment |
| Lakṣeśvara | 64+ | Advanced dedication to nāma-bhajana |
Practice focus: Chant daily with sincerity, attention, humility, and dependence on mercy.
Home Temple
Making the Home a Place of Devotion
The heart of every home should be a sacred place for worship. A home temple reminds the family that Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa are the true center and masters of the home, and that all family members are Their servants.
The altar should be maintained with cleanliness, reverence, simplicity, and a mood of exclusive devotion. Daily worship, chanting, and remembrance help transform ordinary family life into devotional life.
Practice focus: Establish a clean, peaceful, and devotional home altar that supports worship, chanting, and remembrance.
Initiation
Entering a Life of Commitment and Service
Initiation marks a sacred commitment between śrī guru and the disciple. Through initiation, the disciple accepts spiritual shelter, receives mantras according to qualification, and commits to a regulated devotional life.
The initiated devotee should regularly practice sādhana, attend satsaṅga, serve guru and Vaiṣṇavas, chant the holy names, and live a life of humility, purity, and devotion.
Practice focus: Accept initiation as a sacred responsibility and live daily in service to śrī guru, Vaiṣṇavas, and Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa.
